I-30 construction project begins to add entrance, exit ramps at John King Blvd.

John King Blvd I 30
ROCKWALL – Construction began Tuesday on an estimated seven month I-30 ramp reversal project that will make it easier to enter and exit the freeway between John King Blvd. and State Highway 205.
There will be temporary lane closures during construction and the City will provide future updates as the project progresses.
According to a news release from the City of Rockwall, the eastbound entrance ramp will be changed to an exit ramp on the south side of I-30 near Shenaniganz, and the westbound exit ramp will be changed to an entrance ramp on the north side of the highway.
When John King Blvd. was initially designed, the plan was for it to become the bypass route for SH 205 through Rockwall. Now the new construction project will make that transition easier.
Rockwall voters approved funding in the 2012 bond election for this project, which is financed locally through the City of Rockwall and Rockwall County. The Texas Department of Transportation will oversee the $3.5 million reversal construction performed by Ed Bell Construction.
