ROCKWALL – To shine a light on the need to end the domestic violence epidemic and increase awareness of the many free services available for victims, Women In Need Women’s Shelter is holding its second annual 5K Glow Run/Walk this Saturday at 5 pm near the Harry Myers Park lake/splashpark.
Survivors and others will speak and a Candlelight Vigil will be held prior to the race.
According to Outreach Director Cheryl Bahm, the money raised will go directly to Women In Need and the clients it serves with such free services as a 24-hour crisis line, crisis intervention, counseling, support groups, legal advocacy, plus prevention and education programs.
“This year Women In Need’s 5k Glow Run will be focused on bringing domestic violence out of the dark and bringing awareness to the community about the services available to victims and families dealing with domestic violence,” she said.
