ROWLETT – The fiance of the murdered mother of three children, Laura Grillo, plus the two sex offenders whom police believe he hired to kill her one week before their wedding date last November were all indicted on capital murder charges last week.
Grillo, 37, was found shot in the head in her home Nov. 13 in the 8200 block of Americas Cup after dropping her child off at school. She was a former volunteer with the Rowlett Police Department.
Rowlett police say they believe Iannis “John” Makris, 38, hired illegal convicted sex offender Jesus Emmanuel Trevino, 30, to kill Grillo. He worked for the remodeling business that Makris and Grillo co-owned and was set to become the best man in the wedding.
He was arrested in Clearwater FL in April by the Marshal Service on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender out of Dallas. He was convicted of sexual assault of a child in 2008 in Tarrant County and released from prison in May, 2010. He was deported to Mexico but then returned to Dallas at some point.
Makris and Trevino are already in custody in the Dallas County Jail.
The third suspect, James Villeda, is accused of being the getaway driver. He is in custody in Dallas County on an unrelated charge. All three will be charged with capital murder shortly, according to police.
Police called the case a complicated one. They have not yet identified a motive. They said there was no forced entry into the home and appears she was targeted.
