Hear RISD school board Pres. Linda Duran discuss trauma effects upon children

ROCKWALL TX – The public is invited to hear Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees President Linda Duran discuss the negative effects of trauma upon children at the monthly family violence prevention meeting hosted by Americans Ending Abuse and the Lillian Smith Family Violence Foundation Nov. 10, 7 pm, at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club.

After working as a guidance counselor for RISD students for 23 years, Duran is currently a Consultant and Trainer for The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children, for which she conducts trauma training throughout the United States. Additionally, she is an instructor of Social Psychology for KD College in Dallas.

She was first elected to the RISD Board in May, 2012.

She has lived in Rockwall for most of her life and graduated from Rockwall High School, as did all three of her children. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master’s Degree in Counseling from The University of Texas – Permian Basin.
