Rockwall Rainbow Room

ROCKWALL – The public is invited to help the Rockwall Rainbow Room raise funds so it can provide free toys, clothing and personal items for abused and neglected children served by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, May 5, 7-9 pm, at Painting For A Twist.

Open 24/7 as an emergency item resource center, the goal of the Rockwall Rainbow Room is to help CPS caseworkers provide for the needs of the children and adults they are serving.

One hundred percent of the $35 registration fees will go to the Rainbow Room. Those who register will be able to paint and take home a Bluebonnet Sunset painting, according to event coordinator and Rainbow Room volunteer Judy Maguire. Contact her for info at 972-965-9483 cell or 972-961-0456. Volunteers are always needed.

Chiloso’s Mexican Bistro is also sponsoring make-your-own nacho snacks and you may BYOB or enjoy margaritas or sangria for a minimal donation.

Following are some examples of what the Rainbow Room has purchased for children and families in the recent past:

  • Infant and booster car seats
  • Pack-n-play playpens, so infants do not have to sleep with their mothers
  • A weighted blanket and several types of writing utensils for an autistic child in foster care
  • Nursery furniture for a family of six who were coming home with a new baby
  • Twin beds and bunk beds were purchased for several families
  • Medication for a baby that was born with pneumonia which the foster family could not purchase
