ROCKWALL – U. S. Congressman John Ratcliffe (TX-04) will speak at the dedication of the new First Responders Memorial at Rest Haven Memorial Park Oct. 5, 10 am, in the new Public Servants Garden.
The public is invited to attend.
The nine-foot, dome-shaped sculpture was created to honor First Responders by providing a place of reflection and tribute to their service. It features three open-air panels portraying a firefighter, a police officer and an EMT. The six-foot panels are also embossed with the bronze emblem of each First Responder.
First Responders from area fire, police and EMS departments will attend as honored guests and will be treated to a lunch after the ceremony provided by Joe Willy’s Market & Grill.
“I consider it a great privilege to dedicate this special area in our Memorial Park,” said Dewayne Cain, President and Founder of Rest Haven Funeral Homes and Memorial Park. “It is not only a sacred resting place for these public servants, but it will also be a permanent, visual reminder of the sacrifices made every day by our firefighters, police officers and EMTs.”
“Congressman Ratcliffe has always been a strong supporter of our local First Responders, and I cannot think of a more appropriate honor for them than to have the Congressman speak at this event.”
Ratcliffe said he looks forward to attending the event.
“One of the greatest privileges of my time in Congress has been to visit and thank the many incredible men and women who serve in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency medical services across our communities,” he said. “I pray daily that none of these men and women is ever forced to pay the ultimate sacrifice, and I am awed by the way they humbly accept this risk each day by placing their lives on the line for us.”
