Rockwall-Heath Wrestling Team Wins Class 5A TEXAS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

HOUSTON – The Rockwall-Heath Wresting team won the 2016 Class 5A Texas State Wrestling Championship at the Berry Center last weekend with 105 points, four more than second place Frisco Centennial. 

Zarik Anderson at 120 lbs. and Zack Dobbins at 195 lbs. each won second place silver medals, earning 22 and 18 team points, respectively.

Three Hawks won fourth place:

  • Zacc Marek at 220 lbs, earning 18 team points.
  • Dez Williams at 285 lbs, earning 16 team points.
  • Stephen Duncan at 152 lbs, earning 12 team points.

Heath head coach Shane Seleznoff was named “Wrestling Coach of the Year.” The Hawks Assistant Coach is James Portis.

“Do you know how hard it is to win a state championship without one of our guys winning an individual championship? This was a total team effort. I love these kids!” said Coach Seleznoff.
