VIDEO Public safety reason for $8 million radio system purchase by County

ROCKWALL – Rockwall County Commissioners voted unanimously last month to approve the purchase of a new $8 million radio system for public safety that, for the first time, will allow first responders and public safety officials in Rockwall County to communicate with each other by radio.

County Judge David Sweet and County Sheriff Harold Eavenson discuss how the new radio system will improve communication between first responders and public safety officials.

In some cases the new radio system will result in faster response times for law enforcement, ambulances, paramedics and fire departments.

The new radio system is expected to be activated in 18-24 months.
